It is almost Thanksgiving.
Which means the return of the Piekarz Family Thankful Turkey...or, as Ben would translate, the thank you chicken we pray to.
We have all ended (most) days this month by writing down what we are thankful for on a paper feather and are working our way towards a whole turkey full of thankfulness by the time the holiday finally arrives and I inevitably eat so much that I end up complaining about how fat I feel for many many days to follow.
I really enjoy hearing what everyone has to say, and it honestly does us all a bit of good to take a second to just acknowledge the simple things that we have that make us happy.
There has been no shortage of cuteness as Ben tells us what he is thankful for...
He is thankful for everyone in the whole world on a daily basis, for garbage day, garbage trucks, for garbage bags...
He is also incredibly thankful for his family, and for the time that YaYa and PaPa play with him, for dinner and for bedtime songs.
We all have had some good ones.
And I mean it when I say that I am thankful for the four of us being home for dinner, for how hard Joe works so that I can work a shorter work week, for play time with my kids and for getting to spend an evening visiting Ben's classroom.
I wouldn't be complete without Blake's hilarious facial expressions, walks with coffee and hot chocolate before bedtime and watching The Price is Right as a family.
But I'm not going to lie, there are days when what I am thankful for goes beyond what I have written on the paper feather.
So here you have it.
Mommy's 28 Days Of Being Thankful For...
1. Bedtime.
2. Early bedtimes.
3. Easy bedtimes.
4. Early, easy bedtimes when Joe is working late. So. Much. Quiet.
5. The doctor suggesting Benadryl with the boys' antibiotics. There is just so much sleep with Benadryl.
6. When it's not my turn to wake up with the kids.
7. When I forget to turn the dryer on and there are no clothes to fold before bed.
8. Headbands and deodorant on mornings when there just isn't time for a shower. Lots of headbands. Lots of deodorant.
9. Cute winter hats...for the exact same reason.
10. Being right, being able to say I told you so and winning. All of which leave me feeling most vindicated when my husband is at the opposite end of said feats.
11. Wine. Xanax. Coffee.
12. See 11.
13. My ability to ignore that the fact that I have saved $426 dollars with my RedCard and $74.48 with my Cartwheel app really just means that I have spent a stupid amount of money at Target this year. I choose to appreciate the savings. Period.
14. Picking my kids' noses. Judge me. I don't care. The victories I celebrate now are small.
15. Football season...the time of year when I can leave the house without anyone realizing I am gone for decently long periods of time.
16. A solo car ride.
17. Leggings.
18. Pictures of myself that I don't feel compelled to criticize.
19. Beating Joe to the last of the ice cream.
20. That the Starbucks I now go to all of the time has finally learned the perfect cream to coffee ratio in my iced coffee. Every single time.
21. Sleepovers at YaYa & PaPa's.
22. Turning a "quick grocery shopping trip since I will be by myself" into the longest trip ever. Every time.
23. Chicken nuggets and Mac & Cheese.
24. When we can't find the remote.
25. How much I can get done when Ben plays video games.
26. That my kids can't really spell yet.
27. Going pee all by myself.
28. Finding the money in the dryer that I know wasn't mine.
Happy Thanksgiving.
